We perform installation, rigging, millwrighting, and maintenance for manufacturing and industrial markets across the Southeast.

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks Millwrights for a project in Durham, NC. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3 months.

• Reads blueprint and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantles machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
• Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Constructs foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel.
• Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• Unloads, inspects and moves equipment using rigging, hoisting devices, chain falls and hydraulic‑lift trucks or gantry overhead cranes.
• Understands load properties of cables, ropes, hoists, cranes and knows hand/crane signals.
• Fits bearings, aligns gears and wheels, attaches motors, and connects belts according to manufacturer’s blueprints and drawings.
• Has experience with precision leveling and alignment to measure angles, material thickness, and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, and other tools.
• Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.
• Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Lifts and carries objects of varying weights.
• Detects, recognizes and responds to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Maintains regular attendance.
• Significant travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as required.

• Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
• Completes all safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observes SIC and customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.

• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
• Works in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, and other elevated positions, including confined spaces.
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
