GFL Environmental is seeking a 2nd-Shift Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair a fleet of waste and recycling trucks and related equipment. You'll perform scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and brake systems, and complete safe, quality repairs to keep essential services running. Working in a safety-first, fast-paced shop, you'll collaborate with operators and supervisors, document all work performed, and support environmental sustainability in the local community while growing your technical skills and career.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair waste and recycling trucks and related equipment
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, brake, and mechanical systems
- Document all maintenance and repairs accurately in work order systems
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations
- Collaborate with drivers and supervisors to address equipment issues and downtime
- Respond to urgent repair needs to keep fleet operational for 2nd shift
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop work area
