Provide skilled, general labor to City construction, public works maintenance, and/or facilities projects. This is accomplished by performing skilled maintenance duties, operating equipment, and performing general labor as required. Other duties include performing a variety of manual tasks requiring special knowledge or skills acquired through on-the-job training or experience. May serve as a lead worker to an assigned crew engaged in manual, semi-skilled and skilled work.

High school diploma or GED equivalency. Two or more years of maintenance experience operating tools and equipment used in construction. Must have a valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another state driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire.

Valid NC Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement. Familiar with rebuilding manhole/basins, placing structures and cleaning of pipes and culverts. Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions. Required to operate service truck and/or dump truck outfitted with plow based upon class of license possessed during winter weather operations. Position designated as a Group 1, meaning it is critical to emergency operations and will report to work in spite of or because of an emergency or disaster event.

This position subject to on-call, recall and after-hours work and work during inclement weather.
