Adult Correction Division, Correctional Case Manager (S). Position number , Grade NC07. Reports to Correctional Programs Supervisor. Role involves managing a caseload of male medium custody level offenders, providing supportive counseling, answering and following up on offender questions, and making recommendations to the classification committee.
- Assist in major dynamic programs or coordinate major specialized programs for rehabilitation of offenders such as work assignments, work release, education, recreation, and transition planning.
- Work under stressful conditions from direct contact with incarcerated offenders who may become physically violent or verbally abusive.
- Conduct continuous visual and audio surveillance of assigned work area.
- Operate various office machines accurately.
- Prepare written reports and forms reflecting accurate information reviewed from various sources.
- Demonstrate and instruct offenders in the proper and safe use of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Review, analyze, and evaluate various documents and behavioral data gathered from interviews, written documentation, and personal observations.
- Perform crisis intervention and routine counseling, including suicide prevention.
- Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or GED diploma plus two years of custody experience within the NC Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination.
- MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
- Pass a criminal background check, negative drug screening, medical and psychological evaluations, and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of supportive counseling techniques is preferred.
- Adverse weather reporting: position is designated as “Mandatory”; must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
- Full-time 40 hours per week with State Benefits.
Salary range: $37,377 - $65,408.
