Position Summary

The Horizons Program is a regional perinatal/maternal substance abuse treatment program of the Department of OB‑GYN at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The program offers comprehensive, gender‑specific outpatient and residential treatment for pregnant women and mothers and their children. In this role, a Residential Advisor (RA) provides individual and family support to the women and children in the program.

RAs provide transportation, recovery support, observed urine drug screens, medication self‑administration observation, and basic life‑skills support. All staff ensure the safety of women and children by conducting rounds and maintain readiness of apartments by performing searches and preparing units for incoming patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide transportation, recovery support, observed urine drug screens, medication self‑administration observation, and basic life‑skills support.
  • Conduct nightly rounds to ensure the safety of women and children.
  • Prepare and maintain apartments, including cleaning and ensuring readiness for incoming patients.
  • Search participant belongings and conduct random apartment searches.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead RA or Program Manager.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Management Preferences

Knowledge of or interest in gender‑specific substance abuse treatment.
