Duties And Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Providing ongoing case management for families participating in Work First Employment Services.
  • Monitoring progress in their efforts to achieve self-sufficiency, providing guidance, and addressing any challenges or barriers that may arise.
  • Ensuring families are complying with the requirements of the Work First program, such as participation in work activities or job search efforts.
  • Conducting initial assessments to identify a family's needs and self-sufficiency goals, including assessing barriers to employment such as lack of skills, child care needs, or transportation issues.
  • Completing orientations for new families in the Work First program, and working with families to develop and implement a Mutual Responsibility Agreement (MRA), which outlines the responsibilities of both the family and the worker in achieving employment goals.
  • Reassessing and updating the MRA per program policy.
  • Connecting families with appropriate resources and services to address their specific needs.
  • Collaborating with other social service agencies, community organizations, and service providers to coordinate services to support families.
  • Developing in-house opportunities (such as resume labs, workshops, or job clubs) to provide more flexibility for participants.
  • Maintaining monthly job opportunities listing for program.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and documentation in agency case management systems and NC FAST.
  • Keying hours and outcome plans timely in NC FAST and releasing benefits for payment.
  • Using computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail, and database software in performing work assignments.
  • Ability to organize and consolidate information, maintain records, prepare reports, and complete assignments accurately and timely.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Exceptional customer service and computer skills. Good working knowledge of office practices and procedures. Ability to arrange and organize records, reports, files and other documents into a defined sequence. Ability to use a variety of standard office equipment. Data entry experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to keep up in a fast paced work environment.

Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and resources in the community. Ability to acquire knowledge of other laws, codes, and programs relative to the provision of human services. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to relate well with others under stressful conditions. Ability to read and understand moderately complex written information. Ability to gather, compile and evaluate information and records, prepare reports, and make recommendations based on analysis of data collected.
