Overview
The Basics As a Tanium Senior Software Engineer, you will be tasked with building and maintaining best-of-breed products as part of a small and nimble development team. Tanium focuses on a strong customer engagement model and feedback process to ensure our products are designed the right way from the beginning. When new products ideas are identified, our software engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying the products from the ground up, while continuously iterating with product management and customers for feedback and input.
The Basics As a Tanium Senior Software Engineer, you will be tasked with building and maintaining best-of-breed products as part of a small and nimble development team. Tanium focuses on a strong customer engagement model and feedback process to ensure our products are designed the right way from the beginning. When new products ideas are identified, our software engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying the products from the ground up, while continuously iterating with product management and customers for feedback and input.
This position follows the Company’s hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week:
Durham, NC, Emeryville, CA or Bellevue, WA.
- Build and maintain Tanium's products alongside an agile development team
- Design, develop, and test new product ideas from the ground up while working with product management for feedback and input
- In partnership with our design team you’ll work extensively in our React Front End designing and building delightful user experiences
- Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- CS Degree preferred
- Experience
- 5+ years industry experience
- Proven track record of designing and building high-impact, high-performance, and maintainable full-stack web applications
- Expert knowledge of at least one of Golang (preferred), JavaScript, Python, Node.js, Ruby, Rust, or Java
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks like React and Angular
- Experience with HTTP API design and development
- Experience with modern software engineering development and automation tools like git and Jenkins
- Experience in optimizing frontend performance

- Demonstrates sound judgment for balancing between rapid development, and long-term code maintainability and supportability
- Communicates effectively, both technically and non-technically, as well as in written and oral forms
- Believes in the power of and the need for writing automated tests as part of development
- Skilled debugger who can put out fires under pressure when things go wrong in production environments
- Has knowledge of a variety of modern software frameworks (server side & browser side) and the versatility to learn new tools
- Detail-oriented and passionate for creating an awesome user experience

What You’ll GetThe annual base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 to $355,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual base salary offered may be adjusted based on location, education, skills, training, and experience. In addition to an annual base salary, team members will receive equity awards and a generous benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverage, family planning benefits, health savings account, flexible spending account, transportation savings account, 401(k) with company match, life, accident and disability coverage, business travel accident insurance, employee assistance programs, disability insurance, and other well-being benefits.
