Position Overview

As a Staff Software Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. You will design and drive Software Test Engineering and/or Software Engineering efforts (with an emphasis on quality), define best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle. This position requires a very strong technical background, leadership skills, and a passion for driving continuous improvement in software processes.

This role focuses on verifying the solution provided by Development matches the needs described by Product. This personadvocates for the user during design and testing by regularly questioning the purpose and effectiveness of features.

Throughthisfrequent inspection and feedback, you will provide confidence in delivered software.

Essential responsibilities of this position
  • Champion software quality across testing and development activities
  • Design and contribute to the implementation of test automation throughout the org. This includes both back-end/API and UI test automation.
  • Maintain and enhance automation pipelines.
  • Design, document and enforce the most effective strategies and standards for test management and execution throughout the org
  • Analyze internal and external software defect trends and other metrics, and offer appropriate feedback to development teams. Express findings clearly to leadership and contributors.
  • Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to improve effectiveness.
  • Mentor and coach software development and/or quality engineering teams.
  • Create and Maintain test environments for the product testing.
  • Keep up to date on industry standards and best-practices. Plan and help execute educational and skill-building exercises for Dev and QE teams. Teach individual contributors about effective test construction.
  • Understand current customer product needs and offer feedback to Product Owners, developers and testers.
  • Interface (as needed) with BD's regulatory org to incorporate robust testing and traceability into our development/testing lifecycle. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for critical product releases.
  • Assist with development of product documentation or training, as needed.

  • Azure Dev Ops (include test management)
  • Jira
  • Postman
  • Batch scripting (Powershell, Bash, bat, etc)
  • Automated UI testing frameworks (Accel

    Q, Tosca, Selenium)
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software development and/or software quality experience
  • Proactive, problem-solving attitude
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard security. e.g. OWASP
  • Experience leading or working on Agile/Scrum teams
  • Strong working knowledge of User Experience ("UX") and User Interface design
  • Expert knowledge of Software Quality tools.
  • Firm understanding of quality practices & languages. e.g. BDD, TDD, Gherkin
  • Fluency in C# sufficient to read and comprehend product code snippets
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking
  • Ability to produce clearly worded and well-organized documentation.
  • Ability to verbally communicate analytical findings, process designs, and product recommendations effectively.
  • SQL fundamentals - SELECT, WHERE, and basic joins.
