About This RoleWe’re looking for a hands‑on SDET/QA with strong mobile test automation experience to write, maintain, and continually improve automated tests for our iOS and Android mobile apps. This is an individual contributor role that will help raise the quality bar across mobile, web, and platform squads.
- Mobile Test Automation – Write and maintain Appium‑based automated test suites for iOS and Android across UI, integration, and API layers.
- Cross‑Platform Quality – Apply automation practices to web and other consumer‑facing surfaces when the team needs them.
- Tooling & Infrastructure – Contribute to the automation framework, CI/CD test integration, and shared test utilities.
- Demonstrate 2–4 years of QA or SDET experience with mobile automation depth and produce comprehensive test plans for iOS/Android apps.
- Run tests across real devices, emulators, and production‑like device configurations.
- Apply automation frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium for web test coverage.
- Meet deadlines, flag risks, and help ship product features on time.
- Identify and eliminate flaky or manual steps by automating out‑dated processes.
- Develop test suites that cover positive and negative paths and are reliable for confident releases.
- Provide concise defect reports with repro steps, screenshots, logs, and documentation.
- Build test code consistent with existing patterns and best practices and integrate cleanly into the team’s infrastructure.
- Maintain and update test plans, automation setup guides, and contribution instructions.
- Iterate on test plans based on peer review and feedback.
- Propose improvements to testing processes, tools, and coverage proactively.
- Define manual test strategies, contribute to automated testing frameworks, and help scale coverage.
- Identify product quality gaps through exploratory testing and suggest actionable improvements.
- Participate in the team’s testing roadmap and capacity planning for quarterly automation items.
- Receive, incorporate, and provide constructive feedback on automation approaches and testing priorities.
- Be a go‑to expert in mobile automation or a specific testing domain and mentor less experienced QAs.
- Actively contribute to sprint retros, team discussions, and company digital channels.
- Drive cross‑team knowledge sharing on testing practices and build a QA community of practice.
- Experience with performance or load testing for mobile or web.
- Familiarity with accessibility testing tools and WCAG compliance.
- Experience with visual regression testing or screenshot diffing.
- Open‑source contributions or public technical writing.
- Months 1–3:
Learn the mobile codebase, existing test coverage and release process; begin writing automated tests for high‑priority gaps. - Months 3–6:
Ship meaningful additions to test coverage and framework reliability; integrate suites into the release pipeline. - Months 6–12:
Own significant portions of mobile automation and demonstrate measurable gains in defect detection or test cycle time; contribute automation patterns beyond mobile.
