IT Development Engineer III – Service Now Developer

Service Now Development | Charlotte, NC Hybrid | Contract-to-Hire

About the Role

We are supporting a high-performing enterprise Service Operations team that owns and enhances a broad Service Now ecosystem supporting multiple business functions and enterprise platforms. This position is focused on hands‑on Service Now development and is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex workflow challenges, building integrations, and delivering automation s is not a Service Now administrator role; the work is heavily development-focused, with more than 90% of responsibilities centered around designing, building, enhancing, and troubleshooting Service Now solutions.

The first major initiative will focus on modernizing HR onboarding and offboarding processes through workflow automation, system integrations, and improved employee lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain Service Now solutions across multiple business areas and platform modules
  • Develop Service Catalog items, workflows, and automation using Flow Designer
  • Design and implement integrations utilizing Integration Hub, REST APIs, and existing Service Now spokes/connectors
  • Create and maintain Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Script Includes, and other Service Now components
  • Troubleshoot, enhance, and support existing Service Now applications and workflows
  • Support onboarding and offboarding modernization initiatives through workflow automation and system integration
  • Contribute to enterprise AI initiatives leveraging Service Now capabilities such as Now Assist and AI‑driven workflows
  • Work across multiple concurrent initiatives and adapt to changing business priorities
Required Experience
  • 3–5 years of Service Now development experience in a large enterprise environment
  • Strong JavaScript development experience
  • Hands‑on experience building solutions within the Service Now platform
  • Experience with Flow Designer and Integration Hub
  • Experience developing and supporting REST API integrations
  • Strong Service Now scripting expertise
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions
Preferred Experience
  • Service Now certifications (CSA, CAD, CIS, or related certifications)
  • Power Shell scripting experience
  • Experience developing custom scoped applications
  • Advanced integration development experience
  • Exposure to Now Assist, AI Search, AI for ITSM, or other Service Now AI capabilities
