Sports Coordinator

Overview

YMCA of Catawba Valley is looking for a dynamic, hardworking and enthusiastic individual who would like the opportunity to work with a team of people to make a positive difference in the life of adults and children through sports programming. This individual would be responsible for assisting in the planning, developing, and execution of all programs offered in the sports department.

Must be reliable and a positive role model and model behavior that is consistent with YMCA’s Christian mission and the policies set forth by the YMCA of Catawba Valley.

Hours/Days:
Expected during programming hours, Saturdays and Sundays and varied hours, including weeknights Monday – Friday.

• Assist in planning, developing, and execution of all programs offered in the Sports Dept.
• Basic understanding of fiscal management and budget process. Assist the Association Sports Director with site specific budget management.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications must be obtained (provided by the YMCA). Must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
• Must be able to supervise other sports staff and referees in a mature, respectful and professional manner.
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills with volunteers, members, and parents.
• Assist in completion of team assignments, practice schedules, and game schedules for all sports.
• Assist in helping achieve goals related to the Annual Giving Campaign.
• Provide assistance in planning and executing summer sports camps.
• Assist with marketing and communications of YMCA Sports programs.
• Communicate in a positive manner with participants, staff, and volunteers at all times.
• Assist with facility rentals at branch location (gymnasium, fields, etc.).
• Assist with organization and inventory of sports equipment at both locations.
• Ensures the safety of all program areas and equipment.
• Any other duties assigned by the Association Sports Director or Association Lead for Sports Innovation.
• All YMCA staff are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive environment. This includes following all YMCA policies and procedures related to abuse prevention, reporting concerns or incidents immediately, and maintaining appropriate boundaries with youth and members.

• Must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be fun loving, kid focused, and hardworking.
• Possess a current NC driver’s license.
• Previous experience and knowledge in the specific sports of soccer, baseball, flag football, volleyball, and basketball is preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous experience with computer software including Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
