Transit Operations Manager

The Orange County Transportation Services Department seeks a Transit Operations Manager to provide management and oversight of all transit functions, including fixed route and demand response bus service, dispatch, planning, programming and implementing public transportation plans, programs and policies in accordance with regulations. The role includes daily operations, supervision, performance analysis, policy writing, training programs, safety compliance, and grant administration.

Working under the general direction of the Transportation Director, the Manager will exercise independent judgment, plan and execute customer service and project assignments, and supervise staff. The position is safety sensitive and requires participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program, Fitness Assessment, and background check.

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, business, transportation, or a closely related field AND five (5) years of experience in managing public transit operations, including bus driving, public transit, non-emergency medical transportation, fleet maintenance, and the use of ADA equipment, which includes three (3) years of experience directly supervising staff.
• Or an equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above.
• Possession of a valid CDL with Passenger endorsement.
• Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules as operationally needed.
• Demand Response experience is preferred.

• Position will also operate a vehicle to transport passengers as needed.
