Position Overview
As a driver at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Transportation & Parking, you will be driving multiple routes based on student demand across the campus. Drivers will be required to drive over-the-road buses for various events and activities. Bus drivers will gain an understanding of the entire campus to answer student, faculty & staff questions. It is also the responsibility of the driver to conduct vehicle inspections and ensure the safety of our students, faculty & staff, promote positive passenger relations by acting in a considerate, courteous manner.
Attend training and have the ability to satisfactorily complete training courses. Drivers will use various equipment requiring a moderate degree of dexterity and assist customers regularly with mobility impairments, including but not limited to pushing wheelchairs and lifting light or heavy objects.
- Two years driving experience.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s licence.
- Current DOT medical card or the ability to obtain and maintain a valid DOT medical card.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English, read maps, and maintain expense and mileage records.
- Complete vehicle pre‑trip and post‑trip inspection reports.
- Complete incident reports when necessary.
- Load and unload luggage and assist with passenger boarding.
- Maintain a professional manner, appearance and positive attitude, possessing good organizational skills and time‑management skills.
Hourly pay: $18.00–$23.00.
