Equipment Operator II
The Equipment Operator II operates heavy equipment such as track hoe, dump truck, lowboy tractor truck, dozers, motorized pans, farm tractors, and tractor trailers to maintain County drainage systems and rights-of-way.
The work involves digging ditches, hauling and pushing dirt, clearing land and digging holes, operating grade rod to set grades, performing maintenances and minor repairs on machinery and equipment, lubricating machinery, monitoring and replenishing motor and equipment oil, landscaping duties such as cutting trees, planting and cutting grass, maintaining and preparing a variety of records and reports such as vehicle maintenance and production reports, consulting specification sheets for site work and grading, and preparing other projects.
Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by five years of experience in public works construction and maintenance operations and/or heavy equipment operation; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Special Requirements- Must possess a valid state CDL driver’s license.
Tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
