Purpose and Scope
The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. In addition to the essential responsibilities, a Warehouse Specialist provides daily work assignment to other storage personnel (e.g., Shipping/Receiving clerks, Material handlers, Forklift operators, Shipper packers, stock clerks) assigned to work center, which includes performance of general duties and responsibilities associated with the efficient flow of materials and processes associated with the warehouse function.
A Lead Person is a working employee charged with the responsibility of leading, directing, and approving the work of other employees. Position reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Perform a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan.
- Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials, examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage; remove material from storage and prepare it for shipment.
- Operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.
- Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, notes and report discrepancies and obvious damages; route materials to prescribed storage locations; store, stack or palletize material in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
- Make detailed work allocations as instructed by the supervisor and/or customer maintenance representative.
- Furnish sufficient and accurate information to employees working under your direction.
- Interpret information, answer questions, review, check/inspect work, and eliminate ordinary difficulties.

- Lead Person shall not assume any supervisory prerogatives, nor establish work standards within the group, administer or recommend hire, fire or discipline of any employee.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
High school diploma or GED is required. Six to twelve months job related experience and/or training is required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle. Position may require travel.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental DemandsTypical warehouse environment with no unusual hazards, frequent lifting up to 20-60 pounds, kneeling, standing, walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/or organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act.
The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
