The Parts Handler is responsible for performing day‑to‑day activities within the production yard or warehouse in accordance with all applicable federal, state/provincial, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility. Our High Value Core Parts Pullers are responsible for safely and efficiently dismantling and removing hybrid batteries, catalytic converters, airbags, and other high‑value parts from vehicles. This role also includes staging high‑value cores and parts for vendor and customer pickups while ensuring proper handling and inventory organization.
This position may be directed by the Production/Yard Leader to ensure all parts are handled in a safe, efficient, and proper manner.
Job Duties
- Safely maneuver around the yard or warehouse.
- Find/Retrieve parts.
- Package parts for delivery/or prepping.
- Handle any paperwork involved with the parts.
- Pull work orders.
- Use hand tools and power tools to remove parts from cars.
- Operate a powered industrial truck (forklift) or order picker.
- Pull and prep all sheet metal and other orders.
- Tag all parts properly for the destination.
- Communicate with Sales and Dispatch.
- Must display a positive and friendly attitude as well as appropriate behavior during work hours.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Not responsible for supervising employees.
Minimum Requirements- High School Diploma/GED (preferred).
- A working knowledge of automotive parts.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc.
- Basic messages are communicated orally. May write brief messages and keep simple records. May explain and offer guidance on routine procedures.
- Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive, and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
- Decisions generally affect one's own job or the assigned functional area.
- Results are defined, and existing practices are used as guidelines for how to complete work activities; works closely with the supervisor/manager who provides broad guidance and overall direction.
- Prioritize assigned and routine tasks. Handle appropriately.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. On occasion, an employee may be asked to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment. Must be able to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles that may require getting into awkward positions. May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE). May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
