Electrical Technician
Location:
Durham
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Working Pattern:
Monday-Friday, 5 days per week
Contract:
Large, long-term industrial/facilities site
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to join a large, high-profile site close to Durham. This is a hands-on, technical role where you will install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment, ensuring reliable and safe operation across the site.
You will work closely with the on-site team to respond to breakdowns, carry out planned maintenance, conduct inspections, and provide technical support for critical equipment. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests within agreed SLA times
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on electrical systems and equipment
- Conduct testing, inspections, and thermographic surveys to identify potential issues
- Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC systems
- Provide emergency response standby and call-out support when required
- Escalate urgent issues to the Technical Services Manager
- Produce method statements, risk assessments, and work requests for planned works
- Understand and interpret technical drawings, O&M manuals, and process instructions
- Monitor utilities and environmental conditions, reviewing critical equipment performance
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and compliance documentation
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding
- Strong knowledge of safe working practices and health & safety procedures
Desirable
- Experience with building management systems (BMS)
- Testing and inspection of electrical systems
- Understanding of HVAC systems and associated maintenance
- Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH, NEBOSH)
- Authorised Person experience (AP15/12)
-Water hygiene L8 knowledge
- Strong communication skills and excellent customer service
