Retail Relationship Banker

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects by identifying needs and providing tailored financial solutions.
• Conduct needs‑based assessments to grow loyalty and identify immediate and future opportunities.
• Engage customers across all channels, recommending solutions such as everyday banking, retail investments, lending, home financing, and small‑business solutions.
• Provide advice on digital and self‑serve options to make banking easy, simple, and fast.
• Support customer transaction needs and manage the flow of customer traffic.
• Generate appointments, build new relationships within the community, and proactively engage with existing customers and prospects.
• Address and resolve issues via consumer credit audits and quality checks, ensuring accurate data entry and compliance with lending policies and regulatory requirements.
• Apply the risk management framework to protect the Bank’s assets and maintain portfolio quality.
• Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, including home financing, in accordance with sound credit granting principles.
• Integrate marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations to provide strategic advice.
• Organize information to ensure accuracy and completeness of customer files.
• Identify creative approaches to personalize each customer’s experience.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of the overall customer experience and business results.
• Follow risk and compliance processes and policies in all activities.
• Handle escalations and analyze issues to determine next steps.

• 2–3 years of relevant experience or a post‑secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Canada only:
  Registration to sell investment products completed, as appropriate for the jurisdiction, plus appropriate lending qualifications and designations.
• U.S. only:
  Eligibility to act as an originator of consumer loans under RegulationZ, RegulationG, and the S.A.F.E. Act, including a Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.
• Working knowledge of personal and small‑business customer needs and solutions.
• Working knowledge of retail investments and lending products.
• Experience in financial services is an asset.
• Confidence and experience using social media, tablets, smartphones, online tools, and applications.
• Experience in a consultative customer service or sales role with a drive to deliver a personal customer experience.
• Passionate commitment to helping customers and a focus on results.
• Self‑starter with the courage and confidence to approach customers and collaborate across team capacities.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including building rapport and connections with customers.

• Salary range: $41,714.00 – $65,000.00 (Salaried, with potential commission structure).
