Job SummaryThe Mechanical Designer role is responsible for assisting in the design and development of transformers and related components. As an intermediate designer, the role involves independent work, development of basic technical skills, and experience in engineering practices. The designer collaborates with cross‑functional teams and supports the execution of design tasks while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
This position is located at our headquarters in Dyersburg, TN. Relocation to Dyersburg is offered.
Responsibilities- Design and develop transformer‑related enclosures, assemblies, and components under the guidance of more experienced engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA).
- Contribute to failure analysis efforts by collecting data and assist in identifying potential causes under supervision.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales, and customer service teams to ensure successful integration of designs into production.
- Prepare and maintain basic engineering documentation, including design notes, reports, and test results, under close supervision.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to discussions by providing data and technical support.
- Learn and stay informed on industry trends and regulatory requirements to support compliant designs.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in process and product improvements as directed.
- Associate’s degree in a technical field or related certification.
- 2–3 years of experience in drafting or mechanical design, with a focus on transformer or related product design.
- Proficiency with basic design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or Solid Works (coursework or internship experience acceptable).
- Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements (DOE) for transformers or components.
- Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills in transformer or related product design.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
- Organized with the ability to manage assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
- Applicants with hands‑on transformer experience and/or product knowledge with technical potential may also be considered.
