Mortgage Field Services Inspector

Overview

FAR INSPECTIONS is seeking a Mortgage Field Services Inspector to conduct residential occupancy verifications for mortgage lenders.

Contractors work independently, earning a predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. No prior field inspection experience is required, but strong time‑management and deadline‑driven skills are essential. Operations are based in Reno, NV, and FAR INSPECTIONS has been in business for over nine years.

Morrgage lenders periodically send independent contractors to verify that properties are occupied and to assess their general condition. Inspections are primarily exterior; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
• Submit the inspection within 4 days of assignment.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy status according to industry standards.
• Take 9 or more photos with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in the mobile app.
• Travel extensively in the assigned county, and in high‑volume counties you may share the territory with another inspector.
• Spend extended periods driving, making multiple stops during the day.

• Computer with internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. You can expect to earn an equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.

Depending on whether the county is urban or rural, you may perform 20–500 inspections per month while working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties pay higher rates; higher volume counties pay lower rates. There is no set minimum, but the workload is consistent month to month.

No extra mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
