Accounting Manager, Accounts Receivable/ Collections
The Controller will manage all accounting and financial operations for the company and serve as a trusted financial partner to ownership. This role is ideal for someone experienced in construction or trades-based businesses who prefers a stable, mid-sized company over a large corporate environment.

With approximately 35 employees, we operate in a hands‑on, service‑focused environment where strong financial controls, job costing accuracy, and cash flow management are essential. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Operations
- Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, and payroll (hourly field employees and salaried staff)
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close
- Reconcile cash accounts
- Prepare monthly collections reports and perform client follow‑up on any aged invoices
- Setup projects & budgets in the accounting system with project management input
- Process insurance certificates and other job‑related documents for clients
- Enter change orders on the job level
- Process monthly contract billings
- Prepare monthly collections reports and perform client follow‑up on any aged invoices
- Enter new clients and ensure all documentation is entered (ap contact, W9, etc)
- Manage and calculate union fringe benefits
- Manage credit applications
- Manage bond capacity
- Audit assets and report to insurance agent
- Apply and cancel insurance for assets
- Manage claims
- Coordinate with external CPA firm for tax filings and year‑end reporting
- Ensure compliance with Minnesota sales & use tax, and payroll taxes and filings
- Responsible for Workers’ compensation and unemployment reporting
- Renew City & State licenses
- Manage accounting software (Sage 100 Contractor)
- Improve accounting workflows and reporting
- 3+ years of accounting experience in skilled trade union‑company
- Strong understanding of job costing and labor‑heavy service businesses
- Familiarity with union & prevailing wage projects
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Hands‑on and detail‑oriented (this is not a purely strategic role)
- Comfortable working in a blue‑collar, operations‑driven environment

- Salary Range: $90,000–$120,000
