Assistant Equipment Manager – Cranes, Project Coordination

Summary

Mortenson is hiring an Assistant Equipment Manager – Cranes, Project Coordination to support the planning and delivery of crane solutions across its projects. This role serves as a key connection point among project teams, crane planning, Fleet Operations, Technical Services, and external crane partners. The position coordinates project requirements, equipment commitments, commercial documentation, mobilization readiness, schedule changes, and ongoing communication to help deliver crane solutions safely, reliably, and at the right total cost.

The successful candidate will develop broad knowledge of Mortenson’s crane business and progressively assume greater ownership of project portfolios, customer relationships, commercial coordination, workload prioritization, and project-delivery leadership as experience and business needs grow.

Responsibilities Project coordination and delivery
  • Serve as a primary crane-program contact for assigned projects from early planning through mobilization, active operations, demobilization, and closeout.
  • Translate project requirements, schedules, site constraints, and changes into clear actions and accountable handoffs across crane planning, Fleet Operations, Technical Services, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain visibility to project commitments, decision dates, equipment requirements, mobilization milestones, and unresolved risks; communicate required actions and elevate issues that threaten safe, timely, or cost-effective delivery.
  • Manage handoffs among estimating and preconstruction support, crane selection, commercial agreements, deployment, ongoing project support, and closeout.
  • Establish and facilitate an appropriate project‑coordination cadence, providing clear updates regarding availability, schedule, scope, cost, risks, and required decisions.
  • Support resolution of service issues, schedule changes, equipment conflicts, and other delivery risks by engaging the appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Develop trusted working relationships with project teams and provide consistent, responsive customer service throughout the crane engagement.
Commercial and contract coordination
  • Manage the development, routing, and status tracking of crane‑related proposals, estimates, task orders, rental agreements, and other project documentation.
  • Support alignment of project scope, commercial terms, equipment rates, schedule assumptions, and change management.
  • Monitor commitments, billing inputs, contract status, and project closeout requirements in partnership with internal support functions.
  • Maintain accurate project and contract records within applicable systems.
  • Help identify gaps between planned scope and actual project requirements and drive timely resolution.
