Description
As an Environmental Specialist III, you will lead project teams or act as a project manager in the completion of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), petroleum leak investigations, construction monitoring/site cleanup projects, asbestos and regulated waste assessments, and additional regulatory compliance activities.
Responsibilities- Lead investigation and remediation projects.
- Prepare and/or review scope of services, budgets, schedules, and final reports ensuring quality assurance and quality control measures are achieved.
- Demonstrate an understanding of environmental tasks involving a high level of complexity.
- Instruct, train, and mentor team members while serving as a resource to the department/company.
- Effectively manage difficult situations and confrontations both internally and externally.
- Participate in and facilitate meetings with project stakeholders or clients.
- Utilize effective written and oral communication.
- Serve as a project or client manager and assist with and coordinate client management activities.
- Assist with business development and marketing strategy.
- Prepare forecasts of workload for assigned staff and closely monitor backlog.
- Four‑year degree in geology, engineering, or an environmental‑related field.
- 7+ years of relevant post‑education professional experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate motorized vehicles.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multitask and work well in a team environment.
- In‑depth understanding of Phase I and Phase II ESAs (ASTM standard and corridor/transportation modified versions), petroleum leak investigations, construction monitoring/site cleanup projects, and asbestos and regulated waste assessments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint).
- Commitment to comply with KLJ safety and quality standards.
- Willingness to travel on occasion and work flexible hours as needed.
- Project management experience.
- Experience in the environmental consulting industry completing reports, documents, scope of services, assessments, and investigations.
- Knowledge of Minnesota environmental regulations, including MPCA and MnDOT guidance documents.
- 40‑Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
- Minnesota Asbestos Inspector certification.
- Minnesota Asbestos Supervisor certification.
- P.G., P.E. in Minnesota and/or CHMM or ability to obtain.
- Previous experience using ArcGIS software.
This position may require the individual to work 40+ hours per week with approximately 70% of the time spent in the office and 30% in the field. Willingness to travel on occasion is expected.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $64,000 – $90,000, based on education, experience, location, competencies, and internal equity. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance, performance bonus, 401(k), employee stock ownership program, and a flexible work environment.
