Overview
As Senior Electrical Power Market Engineer, you will help MISO carry out an efficient and fair Financial Transmission Rights Market, supporting our vision of being the most reliable, value‑creating Regional Transmission Operator. You will collaborate with modeling, planning, outage coordination, credit, settlements, and operations teams and administer one of the energy markets that allows load serving entities to hedge against transmission congestion charges.
You will also have the opportunity to work on projects ranging from process automation to implementing ground‑breaking changes that help ensure the MISO Financial Transmission Rights Market continues to provide value as renewable energy is integrated into the grid.
Responsibilities- Carry out existing processes such as validating and analyzing models to independently conduct a Financial Transmission Rights monthly auction.
- Collaborate with other teams to implement process improvements and transformative changes.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology.
Experience
- At least five years of related work experience.
- Preferably eight years of related energy industry work experience.
- Preferred: related Financial Transmission Rights market, Day‑Ahead Energy market, real‑time energy market design, operations, administration, or trading experience.
- Preferred: real‑time or market operations experience as an operator.
- Preferred: power flow analysis and congestion forecasting experience.
- Preferred: programming, automation, and data analytics experience.
- Preferred: NERC certification.
Base salary range: $127,000 – $152,000 USD annually. Eligibility for an annual bonus if performance and company objectives are met. Comprehensive benefits package includes 401(k), vacation, sick, and safe time available from day of hire.
