Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Manufacturing Controls Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Supporting and maintaining production‑scale manufacturing and process development equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation across laboratory and pilot production environments.
  • Providing hands‑on troubleshooting, repair, and technical support for controls, automation, electromechanical, and web‑processing equipment to minimize downtime and resolve equipment issues.
  • Leading proactive equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize performance, quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Designing, installing, modifying, validating, and optimizing manufacturing equipment and control systems, including PLCs, drives, motors, sensors, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Partnering with Engineering, R&D, Production, and other cross‑functional teams to support equipment startups, process improvements, technology transfer activities, and capital projects.
  • Developing and executing preventive and corrective maintenance strategies while maintaining accurate equipment documentation, technical drawings, and system records.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements while providing technical recommendations to improve equipment and manufacturing processes.
Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics discipline (completed and verified prior to start AND two (2) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role are the ability to:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation/Controls Engineering, Robotics Engineering
  • Experience working with electro‑mechanical systems, mechatronics, automation controls, SCADA systems, or robotics in a manufacturing environment.
  • Project management experience leading engineering, manufacturing, automation, equipment installation, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience supporting equipment, process, or facilities design; capital equipment selection and installation; equipment commissioning; startup activities; and/or pre‑startup safety reviews in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience programming, modifying, or troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in manufacturing operations.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial motor drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo systems, or related control systems.
  • Experience working with industrial electrical equipment, electrical control systems, or power distribution systems in a manufacturing environment.
