Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join our established Pulmonary team in a rewarding outpatient‑focused role at Altru Clinic.
Location & CompensationAltru Clinic, 1300 S. Columbia Rd., Grand Forks, ND 58201.
Pay Range: $ - $ per year.
Position Highlights- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule
- No call responsibilities
- No weekends or holidays
- 35 hours of patient‑facing time each week
- Care for a mix of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine patients
- Work alongside a supportive group of physicians and APPs
- Strong collaboration and mentorship culture
- Provides patient/family education based on clinical condition and identifies needs to optimize understanding.
- Provides health maintenance and disease management counseling.
- Obtains comprehensive medical histories, performs physical examinations/assessments, and initiates admission orders as appropriate.
- Participates in plans for health promotion, prevention, and maintenance for the Altru Health System, the community, and region.
- Provides medical management and/or interventions for acute and chronic health problems.
- Performs invasive, life‑saving bedside procedures.
- Conducts daily rounds, reviews diagnostic tests, and formulates personalized treatment plans with a multidisciplinary approach.
- Performs endoscopy‑based procedures to diagnose and treat airway and pleural diseases.
- Writes orders for prescription medication under established protocol.
- Orders and interprets lab studies and diagnostic tests to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Notifies patients promptly of test results.
- Collaborates with physicians to verify diagnosis, identify high‑risk situations, or alert to changes in patient status and takes appropriate action.
- Serves as liaison and resource for physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and families.
- Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action per standard operating procedure.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet departmental needs.
- Physician Assistant, National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), prior to start date.
- Physician Assistant, North Dakota Board of Medicine, prior to start date.
- Physician Assistant, Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, within 2 months of start date.
- Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (current state).
- Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association (AHA), within 90 days of start date.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), American Heart Association (AHA), preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year related experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication with patients, families, and team members.
