The Health Economics Program of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is seeking a skilled, mid-career analyst to lead and conduct independent analysis on hospital and provider financing, utilization, and service availability. This position plays a critical role in shaping health policy through data-driven insights and supports state-level efforts to improve health care affordability, access, and equity. The successful candidate will manage multiple simultaneous analyses using key state and federal data on hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic imaging facilities, radiation therapy clinics, and long-term care facilities.
Key responsibilities include conducting statistical analysis of encounter data, and financial and administrative data sets; developing annual research workplans; selecting appropriate research methodologies; and producing high-impact publications such as legislative reports, chart books, and issue briefs. The position is also responsible for data validation, quality assurance, and the development of standards and procedures to ensure integrity and compliance across several key MDH datasets.
