Ron the Sewer Rat is a trusted Twin Cities plumbing and drain cleaning company with a team of 24 technicians and a fleet of 24 service vans. We've grown for years on word-of-mouth reputation, and with marketing added over the last 18 months, we're growing faster than ever.
We invest in our people, care deeply about our customers, and believe great businesses are built by great teams. We're building something that lasts, and we're looking for the right leader to help us take the next step.
The OpportunityThis is a build-and-lead role—and you won't do it alone.
We're building the operational structure that will support our next phase of growth, and we're looking for someone who wants to help create it. You'll work side-by-side with our General Manager and leadership team to build systems, develop leaders, improve accountability, and create an organization that can continue to scale.
We are not looking for someone to maintain the status quo.
We are looking for someone who gets excited about building leaders, creating systems, solving problems, and helping grow a company from where it is today to where it can be tomorrow.
You'll work directly with experienced operational leaders who are actively building the next phase of the company. This role offers a unique opportunity for someone who wants to grow beyond management and into broader operational leadership.
We can teach pieces of the role. We cannot teach ownership, leadership, curiosity, and the desire to build something meaningful. Those traits matter more to us than checking every box.
We're open to a range of backgrounds. Maybe you've built a structure like this before. Maybe you've run one really well. Or maybe you've led operations and are ready for the next step. Strong leadership instincts, operational discipline, and the desire to build matter more than having done every piece before.
What You'll DoLead day-to-day service operations for our drain and plumbing teams.
Coach, develop, and hold technicians accountable to company standards.
Build and improve the operational systems that drive efficiency, profitability, technician success, and customer satisfaction.
Partner with the General Manager to develop future leaders and help build the service-manager structure that will support the company's continued growth.
Track key performance metrics and help drive accountability through scorecards and daily operational rhythms.
Lead daily huddles and operational communication to keep teams aligned and focused.
Partner with Dispatch and Customer Service to ensure the right technician is on the right job at the right time.
Help improve training, onboarding, and operational processes across the organization.
Resolve customer and operational issues quickly and professionally.
Support operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
As the organization grows and the service-manager structure is built, you'll take on broader operational leadership responsibilities across multiple departments.
Requirements Who Thrives Here- You naturally build systems instead of working around broken ones.
- You enjoy coaching people and developing future leaders.
- You can hold people accountable while earning their trust and respect.
- You see recurring problems and immediately start looking for root causes.
- You like creating structure, not just operating within it.
- You are excited by growth and change rather than frustrated by it.
- You want an opportunity to help shape the future of a growing company instead of inheriting a fully built organization.
- Operations management experience in plumbing, drain cleaning, or a related trade (HVAC, electrical, restoration, roofing, landscaping, or similar service business).
- Experience leading teams and driving operational performance.
- A coach's mindset—you build people up and hold them accountable.
- Strong organization, comfort with numbers, and follow-through you can count on.
- Experience creating processes, improving systems, and solving operational problems.
- Comfort with field-service software (Service Titan experience is a plus).
- EOS experience is a plus but not required.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to be insured under our policy.
- Comfort with the physical realities of a field environment, including occasional lifting, job-site visits, and working alongside the crew when needed.
This role is intentionally designed with growth in mind.
You’ll begin by helping lead and improve our service operations, coaching technicians, developing leaders, and helping build the systems that support sustainable growth.
As the company grows and service-manager positions are developed beneath you, you’ll assume broader operational leadership responsibilities and increased ownership across the organization.
