Position: #1 Operator Bindery - 1st Shift

#1 Bindery Operator

We are hiring an experienced #1 Bindery Operator for our printing plant team in Eagan, Minnesota. As a #1 Bindery Operator, you will be responsible for reviewing job specifications, performing set‑up tasks, monitoring the equipment and troubleshooting on our Core Publishing Solutions team. For this role, you would be eligible for a $2,500 signing bonus upon being in the role for 90 days.

Hours

of Work – Eagan, Minnesota
  • 1st Shift 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Occasional overtime up to 4 hours per day and occasional weekend shifts
About the Role
  • Reviewing job specifications for material and set‑up requirements
  • Performing or delegating/overseeing set‑up tasks
  • Monitoring equipment and product through the run to ensure a high‑quality product
  • Performing moderately complex trouble‑shooting related to product or equipment
  • Communicating effectively during the shift and at shift hand‑off
  • Evaluating mechanical condition of equipment, completing preventative maintenance, involving Maintenance as needed
  • Using computer‑based workflow applications to manage files
  • Accurately documenting activities on Tier Boards and in relevant systems (MII, SAP)
  • Accurately marking, verifying and tagging loads correctly to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Providing work direction to others, whether direct crew or other individuals in the workstream
  • Actively participating in company safety programs and contributing to a safe culture
  • Performing training as needed
  • Meeting or exceeding established quality and productivity standards utilizing standard work procedures
  • Generating, implementing, performing and sustaining continuous improvement ideas as well as housekeeping procedures to maintain work area
  • Participating in project teams as needed
  • Providing backup for other operators to cover absences or breaks
  • Recommending and implementing process improvements
About You
  • High School Diploma/GED or higher; vocational/technical degree strongly preferred
  • Experience leading and training others
  • Experience working in an industrial setting with a wide range of production machinery
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot, make decisions and resolve machine issues
  • Experience with Lean and continuous improvement
  • Competent with rulers and measurement
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to run multiple pieces of equipment
  • Experience on Perfect Binders with up to 40‑station collators, 3‑knife trimmers, inline boxing and palletizing
  • Experience with hard‑cover casing‑in lines, collating/kitting lines with up to 30 stream feeder stations, packaging/cartooning lines, Sitma mail lines, Aster sewing equipment and hot foil stampers
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and production orders
  • Can regularly lift at least 5 lbs above the shoulder as well as push, pull and lift at least 10 lbs occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • Can regularly stand, walk, crouch, bend, reach and kneel
  • Can wear PPE including steel‑toe shoes and ear protection
  • Able to pass a background check and drug test, as applicable for the role

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. For this role, the base pay range is $23 – $43 per hour.
