1st: 6:00AM - 2:30PM; 2nd: 2:00PM - 10:30PM; 3rd: 10:00PM - 6:30AM
Pay: $20.50/hr + $2 Shift Differential for 3rd shift ONLY
To meet operational needs, mandatory biweekly Saturday overtime will be part of our standard schedule.
Position OverviewThis is a hands‑on position in the production packaging area. This position works with production leadership to ensure packaging tasks, processes and equipment on assigned line are completed per the production schedule. This position will perform the duties of bagging, packing and palletizing at various times throughout the day while covering breaks. The individual will be accountable for achieving operational goals, while maintaining quality and safety standards.
This individual will be responsible for contributing to a consistent, safe, and productive work environment through participation in corporate programs, and adhering to operational and personnel policies and procedures. With a focus on the success of the overall operation, the individual will work closely with the production, quality and maintenance teams to maintain optimal quality, safety and efficiencies.
- Discuss with operator what is being produced for this shift
- Product being produced and job set quality
- Notify operator of any issues that are observed
- Bring all packaging materials for shift to area
- Take the first bags off the line to assure that correct weight and counts are being met
- Monitor metal detector
- Ensure pallets of products being made are accurately reported and accounted for in ERP System (PLEX)
- Complete check sheets in ERP System (PLEX) according to outlined timeline
- Accurately record all required production information in ERP System (PLEX)
- Verify serial numbers and quantities for all production materials brought to line by warehouse staff
- Set the correct code date for bags and boxes
- Record finished weight and temperatures as required
- Ensure proper loss time is reported in ERP System (PLEX)
- Record waste created by line
- Set up, monitor and adjust all packaging equipment for assigned production line
- Adjust box taper for boxes being used
- Adjust settings on counter/stackers to accommodate changeovers to ensure orders are being filled correctly
- Print labels accurately for finished goods
- Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs and communicating with the maintenance team
- Monitor quality issues by verifying the coding, pack count, seals and overall quality of the packing activities
- Support the Packaging Lead and indirectly provide work direction and training to packaging associates as assigned
- Train new employees on: GMP’s, checking seals, understanding customer requirements, toast points, printing, filling cases, taping code dates, loading machines correctly, etc.
- Assist all teammates on line with any problems they might have
- Perform the duties of the Packer, Bagger and Palletizer throughout the day while covering breaks
- Keep work area clean and orderly
- Maintain compliance with established policies and procedures
- Actively participate in Food Safety and Food defense related activities
- Perform additional duties as directed
- High school graduate or equivalent work experience preferred
- 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing environment; preferably food manufacturing
- Previous packaging experience a plus
- Basic English language skills - written and verbal
- Ability to lift less than 2 lbs. on a repetitive basis
- Ability to push up to 30 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. regularly
- Ability to train new employees effectively
- Ability to provide on‑going work direction and coaching to assigned packaging staff
- Ability to work at a fast pace
