Position Overview
Dakota Woodlands is seeking a motivated and creative Marketing & Communications Assistant to support the organization’s outreach, storytelling, and engagement efforts. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to gain hands‑on experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, and community impact.
The assistant will assist with a variety of projects that elevate the organization’s visibility, strengthen donor and community engagement, and communicate the impact of our work.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with social media management, including creating and scheduling posts
- Support development and distribution of email communications (e.g., newsletters, announcements, campaigns)
- Help design marketing materials, including flyers, brochures, and digital graphics
- Update and maintain content on the Dakota Woodlands website
- Assist in creating presentations for community outreach, donors, and stakeholders
- Support storytelling efforts by helping draft and share client success stories (while maintaining confidentiality and dignity)
- Help prepare and distribute quarterly newsletters (digital and print)
- Assist with assembling mailings and outreach materials
- Provide general support for marketing campaigns, events, and communications projects
- Perform other related tasks as needed to support the mission
- Current student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic design skills (Canva, Adobe, or similar tools preferred)
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Linked In, Facebook, Instagram)
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Passion for nonprofit work and a heart for serving families in need - Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
This role provides hands‑on experience in:
