Position Overview

This is a part‑time (.75 FTE) Day/night rotation: Nights are 12‑hour shifts ), days are a combination of 12 hours ) and partial shifts out of our Egan and Edina EXCEL Care Suites locations.
Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.
Essential Functions- Assessment
- Assess physical, psychological, spiritual, cultural, educational and developmental dimensions of the patient from admission through discharge and provide written documentation of these findings.
- Assess and document patient condition and responses to nursing and/or medical interventions and communicate the information to the appropriate persons.
- Planning
- Develop an individualized plan of care based on nursing assessment, medical and nursing diagnoses, knowledge of specific illnesses, injuries, diseases, surgical procedures and appropriate standards of care.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to maximize patient outcomes and ensure a smooth post‑operative experience.
- Plan and utilize resources efficiently to complete the daily schedule in a timely manner while providing safe and individualized patient care.
- Implementation
- Provide care and supplies based on individualized plan of care, identified needs and in a timely, efficient and safe manner, demonstrating appropriate knowledge of special needs for various age groups.
- Work within the limits of the MN Nurse Practice Act, State and Federal laws, program philosophies, policies and procedures and standards of care. Label and administer medications and solutions as ordered. Apply principles of aseptic technique, standard and transmission precautions.
- Function effectively in emergency situations and when under stress.
- Monitor patients utilizing sound nursing judgment and competent knowledge of equipment based on policies and procedures from admission to discharge.
- Provide emotional support and comfort for patients and families, inform families of patient status, and provide patient/family education.
- Assist with procedures such as dressing changes, IV placement, catheterization, etc.
- Follow proper communication channels and inform department managers of unit activity, patient condition, and personnel concerns.
- Perform comprehensive patient education related to the patient’s primary procedure during stay and at discharge.
- Evaluation
- Reassess, evaluate and revise the implementation of the plan of care to meet the changing needs of the patient and respond appropriately to changes in condition and/or behavior.
- Documentation
- Complete charting with utilization of correct abbreviations as noted in policy.
- Assist in managing controllable costs by the proper, non‑wasteful use of program resources.
- Foster the developmental and educational process of self, colleagues, and students (including preceptor duties). Participate in continuing education and career development activities to meet departmental requirements.
- Participate in department quality improvement activities.
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an NLN accredited school of registered nursing.
- Current licensure as an RN in the State of MN or WI (multistate required).
- Two years of post‑operative or critical care nursing experience in the last 3‑5 years preferred.
- Current CPR certification required or completed upon hire.
- Actual starting pay will vary based on education, skills, and experience.
