This role is responsible for soliciting and developing accounts for Battery Specialists and Auto Parts Distributors. The primary focus is managing customer accounts, growing sales within assigned channels, and building sustainable relationships with new and existing customers to increase profitability over time.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Manage FMP’s value proposition for Battery Specialists, Distributors, and unlabeled battery users.
- Coordinate product offerings, marketing messages, and customer service levels.
- Attain sales and GP% budgets through a matrixed organization, collaborating with regional sales managers.
- Identify and recommend strategic changes to capture opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic and North East regions.
- Train others on FMP’s account selling process.
- Develop sales tools and strategies to overcome obstacles and differentiate FMP from competitors.
- Collaborate with the Marketing department to develop programs that motivate the sales team and customers.
- Educate Customer Service and General Managers on channel value propositions and promotions.
- Establish standards for qualifying customers and goals for business development.
- Negotiate pricing and provide recommendations to the Senior Director of the Battery Channel.
- Develop business plans to profitably conquest new lines and categories from prospective accounts.
- Conduct sales presentations and implement promotions or contests to stimulate business.
- 5+ years of sales experience in the automotive parts or battery industry.
- 5+ years of experience with routine cold calling of Distributor, Fleet, or New Car Dealer clients.
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving, negotiation, and closing sales.
- Strong relationship-building and professional communication skills.
- Proven track record of business development in the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of batteries and automotive parts.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Primarily field-based with frequent driving and some overnight travel.
- Requires frequent communication via computer and cell phone from the field.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, and occasionally lifting up to 75 lbs.
