Job SummaryCross Country Freight Solutions is seeking a skilled Trailer Technician to join our team! We take pride in preparing our team members for professional growth by giving them the guidance and training they need to advance in their position. The Trailer Technician is a safety sensitive position that will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailers and equipment while working safely and efficiently.
This may include but is not limited to doors, floors, DOT inspections, wheel end services, and electrical diagnosis.
Job Duties
- Diagnose and repair issues on tractor-trailers.
- Perform preventative maintenance on trailers.
- Test equipment and systems for performance.
- Perform repairs to brakes, electrical systems, wheel end service, wall panels, etc.
- Document repairs.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with employees and vendors.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED certificate. Completion of a certificate program or technical training in mechanics and truck repair preferred. At least 1 year or more of professional experience as a trailer technician.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, organization, logistics, math, and communication skills.
- Ability to recognize trailer maintenance problems.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Experienced and proficient working with diagnostic computers.
- Knowledge of working on trailers.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work well with team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Welding or fabrication experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to perform frequent bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching, and balancing.
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment, parts, and freight weighing up to 80 pounds for a distance of up to 20 feet.
- Must be able to frequently reach objects at waist level or above shoulder height.
- Must be able to open and close cargo doors and to climb into and out of vehicles.
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
