Responsibilities
- Wire and install Voice Data and Fiber systems for residential and commercial customers.
- Verify and test installed systems.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Problem solving skills.
- Proficient PC and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience.
- Ability and flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic and dependability.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet strict deadlines.
- Computer networking background a plus.
- Willing to travel to jobsites.
- Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl.
- This position requires the ability to bend or stand as necessary.
- This position requires the ability to move and/or lift objects regularly up to 50 pounds.
- High School graduate.
- 3–5 years minimum in the Voice Data and Fiber systems field.
- Power Limited License (PLT) required.
- Work as an apprentice AV technician 40 hours per week.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to pass the Electrician’s Trade Aptitude Test.
- Attend class one day per week through Joint Apprenticeship Training Program (free).
- Wages are based on the union scale and increase based on the number of hours worked.
- Usually takes about 3 years to complete program and become licensed.
This position is covered by the MN Limited Energy collective bargaining agreement with a pay range of $23.58 to $51.07 per hour, as negotiated under the terms of the agreement. All pay rates, benefits, and employment terms are determined and administered by the union.
