Independent Living Skills Coach
Position
Purpose:
An entry‑level role responsible for establishing a supportive, person‑centered environment for clients through engagement, interventions, medication administration, and overall program oversight and safety.
Mornings on Saturday and Sunday 8:00a.m.‑4:30p.m.
LocationPeople Incorporated Main Office – Eagan, MN55121.
Salary$22.00 – $24.00 per hour with a $2.00 hourly shift differential for Monday‑Friday evening shifts.
MainJob Duties
- Document client interactions in the organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and any program‑specific documentation system, maintaining clear, concise communication with clients, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare, serve, and clear client/program meals according to scheduling, sanitation, nutrition, and safety standards.
- Administer medication in accordance with organizational and program policies and procedures.
- Maintain daily housekeeping and general cleanliness of client homes, program areas, and workstations, conducting regular room checks throughout the facility.
- Support individuals in mental health management by identifying coping skills, practicing coping skills, and exploring alternative methods.
- At least 2000 hours of work experience providing health and human services within the past 10 years; anda GED or High School Diploma; ORan Associate of Arts degree or two years full‑time post‑secondary education in behavioral science or human services; ORtwo years of full‑time post‑secondary education or a total of 15 semester hours or 23 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields;
ORthree years of personal life experience with mental illness within the past 10 years; ORthree years of primary caregiver experience to an adult with mental illness, traumatic brain injury, substance use disorder, or developmental disability within the past 10 years.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or related field plus proof of a practicum or internship involving direct interaction with adults or children served, focused on behavioral sciences; OR30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral science or a related field with proof of a practicum or internship as described; OR2000 hours of supervised experience delivering services to people with mental illness;
OR2000 hours of supervised experience delivering services to people with traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities, completing training on mental illness, mental health de‑escalation techniques, co‑occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications; ORfluency in the non‑English language of the cultural group to which 50% of the practitioner’s clients belong; ORa high school diploma and 4000 hours of supervised experience delivering services to people with mental illness or traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities, completing the same training;
ORcurrent enrollment in a graduate‑level behavioral sciences program at an accredited institution with formal clinical training assignment.
- First Aid and CPR certification upon hire.
- Complete required 245I trainings and supervision as mandated by statute.
