About the role:
As a Senior Associate Kong API Developer
, you will contribute to the design and development of APIs and microservices that support secure, scalable solutions in the Payer domain. This role emphasizes hands-on technical expertise in Java, API management, and cloud deployment, with exposure to Kong technologies and containerized environments. You’ll collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, compliant systems while growing your technical depth.
Develop and maintain REST/API services with robust testing using Postman and Swagger Hub.
Implement Kong OSS, Kong Insomnia, and Kong Enterprise solutions for API management.
Utilize Docker and Kubernetes to support deployment and performance optimization.
Apply Lua scripting and JavaScript to customize system functionalities.
Support authentication and authorization processes with Security Protocols and JSON Web Tokens.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth integration of solutions.
Stay current with emerging technologies and apply them to enhance existing systems.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is an hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Eagan, MN.
What you need to have:Strong Java background with experience in API and microservice development.
Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
Hands-on experience with Kong technologies (OSS, Insomnia, Enterprise).
Familiarity with REST/API testing tools (Postman, Swagger Hub).
Understanding of Security Protocols and JSON Web Tokens.
Experience with Lua scripting and JavaScript.
Knowledge of the Payer domain and compliance requirements.
Experience with Swagger and Stoplight for API documentation.
Ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions.
Strong collaboration skills and eagerness to learn from senior team members.
Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $80,000 - $100,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
