Role Overview

Senior Research Engineer at Thomson Reuters Labs building AI/ML products for legal, accounting, government professionals.

• Design, build, test, and deliver high‑quality software across the full development lifecycle.
• Engineer scalable machine‑learning pipelines for large‑scale data processing and model training.

• Collaborate in a cross‑functional team, sharing knowledge and supporting peers.
• Work in an Agile environment, delivering timely solutions and driving continuous improvement.
• Propose and experiment with innovative approaches, contributing ideas from research to production.
• Communicate effectively with cross‑functional partners and stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years working on machine‑learning products or solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Python and its ecosystem.
• Clean, maintainable, well‑tested coding style demonstrated by production work.
• Experience quickly adopting emerging technologies to solve complex problems.
• Collaboration with applied data scientists to translate research into production.
• Experience with cloud‑based development.
• Proficiency with Agile methodologies, CI/CD, Dev Ops, and SDLC practices.
• Experience integrating ML/GenAI into production‑grade software.
• Understanding of Model Ops and MLOps principles.
• Exposure to NLP tasks such as NER, Information Extraction, Text Classification, Summarization, etc.
• Hands‑on experience in additional languages such as Java, Rust, Scala, or Type Script.
• Ability to translate research concepts into engineering solutions.

Base salary: $127,000–$235,000

USD in the U.S. (varies by location). For Ontario, Canada, $100,000–$145,000

CAD. Eligible for annual bonus and comprehensive benefit program.
