Job Summary

Cross Country Freight Solutions is seeking a skilled Dispatcher to join our team. We take pride in communicating and providing deliveries on time to our customers. Dispatchers coordinate and ensure the pick‑up and delivery of freight on an accurate, timely and efficient basis. They also close driver trips to ensure accuracy through the company's technology systems while supporting the operations team with all administrative functions required.

Job Duties
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and implement efficient and timely pickup and delivery of customer freight.
  • Verify the accuracy of pick‑up orders placed by Customer Service Representatives, check for discrepancies and timeliness, and answer customer service calls.
  • Dispatch pickup and delivery of customer freight in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assign and schedule drivers at pickup and delivery locations and ensure accurate completion of shipping documentation.
  • Verify loading and unloading appointments with shippers and receivers.
  • Complete and verify driver check‑in and check‑outs are processed accurately and efficiently; create routing stickers as needed.
  • Maintain communication with drivers to ensure optimal operational efficiency and positive customer and employee relations.
  • Maintain a log of all route times to identify routes that may be running late.
  • Communicate with other operations personnel to resolve operational issues and handle a high telephone call volume in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Set up Truckmate trips, verify closes, and monitor and manage open orders, missing orders, overages, shortages, misroutes, missing PODs, and late deliveries.
  • Obtain weekly service center report cards and identify and solve existing and potential problems in collaboration with supervisors; perform OSD research and track results.
  • Interact with customers and employees in a helpful, courteous and professional manner.
  • Ensure that all pick‑ups and deliveries are done accurately and timely.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures and that drivers comply with them.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Create a positive and productive work atmosphere by communicating professionally and fostering teamwork.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to type at least 25 words per minute and familiarity with computer operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, math, and communication skills with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to give and follow instructions, use common sense, and communicate effectively using personal and technology‑related channels.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of city, rural routes, and the CCC system, as well as company policies, in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and hazardous materials preferred.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse personalities.
  • Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry principles, procedures, and best practices.
