Project Engineer

This Project Engineer role supports major construction projects, providing comprehensive project management support to ensure quality, profitability, and timely delivery. You collaborate closely with project managers, field supervision, engineers, detailers, and leadership to manage schedules, costs, documentation, and coordination for mechanical and plumbing scopes of work on complex projects.

• Provide project management support to project managers through effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, and cost forecasting.
• Track, forecast, and report labor hours and material costs to support accurate project budgeting and profitability analysis.
• Assist in the buyout and procurement process for major equipment and subcontracts, ensuring competitive pricing and timely awards.
• Expedite and track deliveries of major equipment and materials to maintain project schedules and avoid delays.
• Maintain a working knowledge of general conditions, work scope, and specifications of project contracts and subcontracts.
• Maintain and control project documents in compliance with company standards and contractual requirements.
• Collaborate with field labor supervision to plan, organize, and schedule project work, including preparation of integrated subcontract and contract project schedules.
• Review contract drawings, detail drawings, and specifications to understand scope, identify issues, and support construction activities.
• Prepare fabrication shop work packages, including detail drawing review, material takeoffs and buyouts, and development of man‑hour fabrication budgets.
• Ensure full compliance with the Safety Program at the jobsite and promote a culture of safe work practices.
• Demonstrate regular attendance and promptness to support project continuity and communication.
• Use MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, One Drive, MS Teams, SharePoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Viewpoint Vista, Revit, and Stratus to manage project information and workflows (on‑the‑job training will be provided for many of these programs).
• Develop a strong understanding of construction sequencing, particularly for mechanical and plumbing scopes of work.
• Support the management of RFIs and change orders and accurately read and interpret project plans related to mechanical scopes.
• Contribute to estimation and planning activities for HVAC, plumbing, and process piping scopes as needed.

• Experience in project engineering within construction, preferably focused on mechanical construction, HVAC, plumbing, or piping scopes.
• 1+ years of experience working as a project engineer overseeing HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical scopes of construction preferred; internship experience is acceptable.
• Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications related to mechanical and plumbing scopes of work.
• Understanding of RFIs and change order processes in a construction environment.
• Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, One Drive, MS Teams, SharePoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Viewpoint Vista, Revit, and Stratus, with willingness to learn tools through on‑the‑job training.
• Knowledge of mechanical construction methods, HVAC systems, plumbing, and process piping.
• Strong organizational skills for scheduling, document control, and tracking labor and material costs.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project managers, superintendents, foremen, engineers, detailers, and other stakeholders.
• Commitment to jobsite safety and adherence to the Safety Program.
• Ability to work onsite and support major projects in a fast‑paced construction environment.

• Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Chemical Engineering is desired.
• Previous construction field experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Knowledge of Bluebeam and Procore is highly preferred.
• Experience with industrial construction and data center projects is beneficial.
• Background in construction management, scheduling, estimation, and project management is an advantage.
