Hourly rate:
Untrained – Lane 5 $ 15.61;
Trained – Lane 6 $ 16.62 (employee may qualify for lane 6 with in-district training).

Job Summary

The Instructional Paraprofessional provides classroom support, assists with special needs students in the resource classroom, implements instructional plans, monitors student behavior, and supplies clerical support to teachers and staff.

Essential Functions
  • Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the supervising teacher's direction to reinforce objectives and IEP goals.
  • Provides immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
  • Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc., supporting teachers in the classroom.
  • Collects data under the assigned teacher to monitor student progress.
  • Assists students with self-care activities (e.g., toileting, washing, dressing).
  • Supports students individually or in groups with lesson assignments (e.g., reading, writing, speaking, spelling, computer programs).
  • Attends job-specific trainings and meetings (first aid, behavior management).
  • Communicates with instructional staff and professional support personnel to assist in evaluating progress and implementing IEP and 504 objectives.
  • Models appropriate behavior and interpersonal skills to guide students toward social development.
  • Implements behavioral plans identified in student IEPs under teacher supervision.
  • Maintains instructional materials, records, and classroom equipment to ensure availability and compliance.
  • Monitors students during assigned periods in various school environments to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Performs clerical duties such as screening phone calls, distributing materials, maintaining inventories, processing documents.
  • Provides instruction to students in individual or group activities (academic, social skills, living skills) under teacher supervision.
  • Reports observations and incidents regarding students to instructional or administrative personnel.
  • Supervises and escorts students to/from classes to ensure safety.
Requirements
  • Age 16 years or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of mandatory employee training within the first 3 months.
