Job Summary:

The Knife Room Operator 4 is responsible for attending the knife room window and ensuring all knives, blades, equipment, and supplies are properly issued, received, maintained, and accounted for. This position plays a critical role in supporting production operations by maintaining sharp, safe, and functional equipment for team members. This position is also responsible for keeping the knife room clean, organized, and adequately stocked while following all company safety policies and procedures.

Additional responsibilities include equipment repair and maintenance, inventory tracking and cycle counts, loading and unloading parts and supplies, and lifting up to 50 pounds as required.

Tasks:
The Knife Room Operator 4 sharpens and maintains a variety of knives and blades used throughout the facility, including straight knives, Whizard blades, Grasselli blades and other production cutting equipment. This role is responsible for maintaining blade sharpness and quality to company standards and ensuring straight knives consistently achieve passing sharpness scores. Responsibilities include sharpening returned knives, repairing and replacing Whizard knife parts, maintaining cables and equipment, and troubleshooting knife and blade issues within production areas.

The position also supports Ground Beef operations by maintaining grinders, V-Meg equipment, and weighted plates. Additional duties include obtaining parts and supplies from the Supply Room, tracking inventory, conducting cycle counts, and ensuring all tools and equipment are available and ready for use. The operator visits production areas to observe knife practices, provides support as needed, cleans and maintains equipment according to manufacturer recommendations, and keeps the knife room and work areas clean, organized, and operating efficiently.

Requirements:

Experience:

Knowledge of knives, blades, sharpening procedures, blade maintenance, and equipment maintenance is required.

Communication

Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and management, both verbally and in writing.

Special

Skills:

Must be able to work independently, stay organized, manage multiple tasks, and work efficiently. Strong attention to detail is required to maintain blade sharpness standards and achieve passing straight knife scores. Strong problem-solving and people skills are also required.

Schedule:

B Shift, Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM. Saturdays are required based on production needs. Overtime will be required as needed.

INTERNAL REQUIREMENTS:
Cannot have 6 attendance points or more. Cannot have suspension in the last 12 months.
