Responsibilities

The Supervisor is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of their unit, ensuring timely, safe, compassionate care for all patients in the Med‑Surg/Tele department. The Supervisor also assists in the education of Med‑Surg/Tele staff.

• Oversee that all staff members carry out their duties safely, timely, compassionately, and efficiently, including providing patient care directly as necessary.
• Communicate directly with physicians and other management members to resolve conflicts or issues quickly and effectively.
• Evaluate, coach, educate, and counsel all staff members, acting as a mentor and role model, and coordinate the unit onboarding process for new staff.
• Collaborate with the Director and Charge Nurses to assess and determine educational needs of unit staff, and work with the Facility Educator to coordinate and present required education.
• Assist in preparing and adhering to the annual department budget.
• Maintain a risk‑free environment on the unit and engage in ongoing performance improvement.
• Review nursing documentation to ensure compliance with core measure and best practice standards.
• Assist with required TJC and unit metric audits.
• Actively participate in unit and unit leader meetings to ensure open communication.
• Coordinate and lead unit safety huddles.
• Function as backup to the Director as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Texas registered nurse license.
• Previous charge or supervisory experience preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Graduate of a state‑approved school of professional nursing practice; maintains current licensure in Texas.
• BSN preferred.
