Responsibilities
Responsible for the coordination of activities that will promote, support, and educate new and expectant parents about breastfeeding. Actively participate in the patient education program for Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center and participate in education for the staff of Women’s Services and comply with educational requirements for OBHRU including monthly drills. Assumes shift responsibility and accountability for the planning and provision of direct and indirect nursing care to the patient, family, care partner and appropriate others.
Coordinates multi-disciplinary team members, directs and facilitates nursing staff in obtaining safe, optimal health care outcomes. Supports activities that meet the facility vision, mission and goals. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Responsible for all Lactation Consultant duties. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.

QualificationsExperience:
Minimum of two to three years experience in L&D, Post-partum/ mother baby nursing. One to three years supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration, etc.:
Must have Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas. Current BLS required. NRP, ACLS, and Intermittent Fetal Monitoring.
Special Skills, Knowledge:
Possesses leadership qualities and is self directed/motivated. Demonstrates knowledge and competence in area of nursing theory and practices. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing and moral ethics. Exhibits the ability to plan and complete work effectively. Exhibits creativity and innovativeness or willingness to implement creative and/or innovative ideas of others.
Education:
Graduate of a state approved school of professional nursing practice. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree preferred.
