Position: Maintenance Worker
Supervisor: Maintenance Supervisor/Housing Director
Division: Reservation Services Administration
Department: Housing
ResponsibilitiesMaintains and repairs homes, grounds, offices, and shops under the control of the Housing Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists and performs installation, maintenance, repair and construction work in the basic building maintenance trades, such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, locksmith, carpet, and mechanics. Receive written work orders or verbal instructions form supervisor.
- Repair or replace sheetrock, building brick, stone, wood, and concrete.
- Clean excessively stained surface areas with brushes and cleaning compound.
- Inspect roofs, windows, walls, concrete, and drains for water leaks and perform repairs as needed.
- Assist with the inspection, repair and/or maintenance of related equipment.
- Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor.
- Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situation.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage and maintain security of confidential data and information.
- Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment.
- Cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs and way of life.
This position does not carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Education / Experience RequirementsMinimum Qualifications: One to three years of experience of basic cleaning in and around hospitality, office and residential buildings.
Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or graduation equivalent diploma (GED).
