Educational Interpreter - Eagle Point, Oregon

As a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school setting, you'll make a meaningful impact by fostering clear communication and inclusivity for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Your ability to translate spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa will ensure students can fully participate in classroom activities and school life. Working alongside teachers, staff, and families, you'll help create an engaging and accessible educational experience for every learner.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent)
• Experience in an educational setting highly preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to adapt to different grade levels and classroom environments
• High level of professionalism and reliability

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers in classroom, small group, and individual settings
• Interpret lectures, discussions, meetings, and extracurricular activities
• Follow confidentiality guidelines and maintain professional boundaries
• Collaborate with education teams to support each student's specific needs
• Assist with cultural mediation where appropriate, fostering understanding between deaf and hearing individuals
• Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings as needed to contribute to student planning
