Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator

Waste Connections is seeking a Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator to support safe, efficient landfill operations. In this field-based role, you will operate compactors, dozers, loaders, and related equipment to spread, compact, and cover waste in compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include daily inspections, minor maintenance, and accurate documentation. Responsibilities

• Safely operate landfill heavy equipment including compactors, dozers, loaders, and excavators
• Spread, compact, and cover waste materials to meet regulatory and site standards
• Perform daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and report mechanical issues
• Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures and regulations
• Work with site leadership to maintain efficient traffic flow and tipping areas
• Communicate with spotters, drivers, and scale personnel via radio and hand signals
• Monitor working face for hazards and help maintain clean, orderly work areas
• Assist with site grading, road maintenance, and stormwater control as directed
• Complete required logs, inspection forms, and documentation accurately
• Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement efforts
