The Colorado Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Eagle County Government are seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and relationship-oriented leader to serve as the SBDC Executive Director for Northwest Colorado. Eagle County proudly hosts the grant-funded regional SBDC on behalf of an 11-county region. Since Eagle County became the host in 2019, the regional SBDC has been continually scaling its services and support.

There is a strong program in place, and this role is available through a restructure to support additional program expansion. This new hire will bring skills and capacity to the table to support existing operations while also helping us envision what is next. This role is designed for a dynamic working leader who is highly accountable to executing work plans, open to feedback, and possesses the autonomy to hit the ground running with regional ideas that have been eagerly awaiting this next growth opportunity for the SBDC program.

This position demands a critical balance between strategic visioning, program oversight, and the rigorous ability to execute on those plans.

You won't be doing this alone: the existing, highly dedicated SBDC team remains in place and is motivated to help this new individual succeed. The SBDC Director will additionally be supported by an amazing host organization, Colorado SBDC network and state leadership. Hiring Range: $90,000-$105,000. Hours &

Location:

M-F, 9 am to 5 pm, with flexibility to accommodate work travel and evening/weekend events. Things to know:
The Director must reside within the Northwest SBDC region. Office space is available at the Eagle County Government building, but the position is largely able to operate remotely to accommodate regular travel and outreach across the region. While the schedule allows for flexibility, candidates must generally be available during standard business hours with occasional evening activities. Day travel throughout the 11-county region is a regular component of this role.

This position is hosted by Eagle County Government subject to the availability of ongoing grant funding and SBDC contract renewals. Funding and contracts are currently in place through December 31, 2027. The right individual will help the host institution determine the best structure of the center beyond this date, ensuring long-term and seamless continuation of SBDC services in the region.

Visionary Execution & Accountability:
Highly accountable for implementing work plans and executing a regional SBDC strategic plan. You must be able to translate high-level vision into daily operational success.

Strategize and manage the continued growth of the program, including identifying exactly when and where to add independent contractors or employees to assist with scaling efforts.

Develop and maintain deep, authentic trust within the 11-county community. You will champion SBDC services in cooperation with economic development leaders, Chambers of Commerce, and the statewide SBDC network.

Support the region's independent advisor roster, including vetting, onboarding, and monthly roundtable meetings.

Manage core SBDC programming, including training tracks, client tracking compliance, and marketing strategies.

Manage and meet the reporting requirements of multiple state and federal grants, process and manage annual budgets, strategize new funding opportunities, fundraise, and cultivate sponsor relationships.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in public speaking and presentation development. Bilingual (Spanish/English) competency is highly preferred.
