Freelance ASS​/SSA Aegisub Typesetter (Anime

We are looking for a detail-oriented and passionate Freelance ASS/SSA Aegisub Typesetter to join our anime localization team. You will be responsible for creating high-quality typesetting for anime subtitles, ensuring that on-screen text, signs, title cards, and other visual elements are accurately styled and seamlessly integrated into the video.

• Create high-quality ASS/SSA typesetting using Aegisub
  .
• Design and position subtitles for signs, title cards, on-screen text, location names, credits, and other visual elements.
• Apply ASS override tags such as positioning, movement, scaling, rotation, clipping, blur, alpha, layering, and transformations to produce professional-quality subtitle effects.
• Ensure subtitle readability while maintaining visual consistency with the original artwork.
• Follow project-specific style guides and quality standards.
• Collaborate with Translators, Timers, QC/QA staff, and Project Coordinators throughout the production workflow.
• Revise typesetting based on QC feedback when necessary.
• Deliver assigned projects within agreed deadlines.

• Strong proficiency in Aegisub and the ASS/SSA subtitle format

• Solid understanding of ASS Override Tags, including but not limited to:
• pos
• move
• fad
• t
• clip / iclip
• frz
• fscx / fscy
• blur
• alpha
• Layer management and related effects.
• FBF (Frame-by-frame).
• Experience in anime typesetting (fansub or professional projects is a plus).
• Good understanding of typography, composition, layering, and subtitle readability.
• Ability to follow style guides and maintain consistency across episodes.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a remote team environment.

• Experience creating animated ASS effects using t transforms.
• Familiarity with vector drawing (p) and advanced clipping techniques.
• Knowledge of font management and font attachment workflows.
• Experience with Aegisub Automation (Lua scripts).
• Previous experience working on official streaming or broadcast subtitle projects.

• This is a remote freelance position
