Project Engineer
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to support delivery of commercial, industrial, office, retail, and multifamily construction projects. The Project Engineer will coordinate technical design, manage construction documentation, support cost and schedule control, and work with field teams and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support project planning and execution by coordinating engineering deliverables, construction documents, submittals, and RFIs.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and assist in tracking progress against milestones; collaborate with project managers to mitigate delays.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, shop drawings, and as-built documentation; coordinate with design teams and architects for constructability.
- Monitor site activities through regular site visits; verify work quality, conformance to specifications, and adherence to safety procedures.
- Assist with cost control activities including reviewing subcontractor bids, tracking costs, processing change orders, and maintaining budgetary documentation.
- Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, owners, and permitting authorities to resolve issues and keep work progressing.
- Manage project documentation: maintain logs (RFIs, submittals, change orders), update project files, and ensure accurate record-keeping for handover.
- Support commissioning, turnover, and closeout processes including punch-list management and compiling O&M manuals and warranties.
- Perform site measurements, survey verification, and technical calculations as needed to support field installations.
- Promote and enforce site safety and quality control standards; participate in safety meetings and inspections.
- Use project management and BIM/CAD tools to coordinate drawings and collaborate across disciplines.
- Provide technical support to field teams and apprentices; help train staff on project-specific processes and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Construction, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in construction project engineering or related role on commercial, industrial, office, retail, or multifamily projects.
- Proven knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and standards relevant to commercial and multifamily construction.
- Experience with construction documentation processes: submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contract administration.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Microsoft Project or Primavera, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with owners, contractors, design teams, and field personnel.
